Electrician – IBEW Local 490

The electrician apprenticeship is designed to shape apprentices into well-rounded electricians. Over the course of the four-year program, apprentices attain 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with experienced journeypersons, plus 900 hours of classroom instruction with qualified instructors.   • Employer: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 490, Concord, NH
  • Term of Apprenticeship: Four years/8,000 hours paid on-the-job training
  • Related Instruction: 900 hours of education
  • Work on construction projects throughout New Hampshire and Southern York County Maine
  • Specializing in Commercial, Industrial, and Power Generation
  • Green Energy Projects Wind and Solar
  • Program Start Date: July 1, 2025

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 17 to apply, age 18 to begin work
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Resident of New Hampshire or York County Maine
  • Successful completion of an Algebra class either in high school or a post-secondary program
  • High school diploma or GED certificate with scores
  • Receive minimum score on our nationalized standard aptitude test
  • Able to perform work required of an apprentice both mentally and physically
