Five Guys Announces Restaurant Management Apprenticeship

Five Guys Partners with Community College System to Offer New Hospitality Apprenticeship for Career Seekers

Training program will prepare apprentices to work in a full-time management position at one of many locations across New Hampshire.

Concord, NH – Gellfam Management Corp., the management company behind the Five Guys franchise locations in New Hampshire, has developed a restaurant management registered apprenticeship program in partnership with the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) and the ApprenticeshipNH program.  ApprenticeshipNH is a grant-funded program that seeks to address workforce needs in high-demand sectors throughout the state by helping employers develop apprenticeship programs that meet federal standards. In launching this program, Gellfam will become the first New Hampshire employer to offer a restaurant management Registered Apprenticeship.

“We want everyone to know that Five Guys offers great career and training opportunities for everyone,” said Katrina Lacerte, operations project manager for Gellfam Management Corp., “this apprenticeship is a great way for someone to get their foot in the door and work towards a rewarding career.”

The program will consist of 441 hours of classroom instruction completed over the course of three years at an NH community college.  All college credits earned by the apprentices can be applied towards a certificate or associate degree offered by the participating colleges. The Registered Apprenticeship program at Five Guys also requires three years/6,000 hours of on-the-job training at a restaurant. As a restaurant manager apprentice, participants will learn how to oversee and manage operations at a Five Guys location, including employee supervision, purchasing and budgeting, and customer relations.

“This apprenticeship program gives participants the opportunity to work towards a college degree,” said Emily Zeien, grant manager for ApprenticeshipNH. “Because of the earn-and-learn model of apprenticeship, participants will learn and develop new skills while still receiving a paycheck. Apprentices will have access to exceptional training and education resources that will prepare them to be successful in a new career,” Zeien said. “We are thrilled to partner with Gellfam as they implement this new training program.”

Gellfam is currently seeking applicants for the program, with opportunities available at several locations in southern New Hampshire. To learn more about applying to this program, contact ApprenticeshipNH at apprenticeshipusanh@ccsnh.edu.
