About the Program:

  • Apprenticeship Occupation: Community Health Worker Wellness Coach
  • Employer: The Family Resource Center, Gorham, NH
  • Term of Apprenticeship: One year/2,000 hours paid on-the-job training
  • Related Instruction: White Mountains Community College, North Country Health Consortium, Family Resource Center

 

This unique position supports families, the community and the agency. Having a close understanding of the public served, the Wellness Coach is trusted by the community in the work they do. This relationship enables the worker to serve as a link between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery. The Wellness Coach also builds individual and community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, social support, and advocacy.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Please note: applicants must be based in the Coos County/Upper Grafton County area to be considered for this apprenticeship.

  • 21+ years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Background check, DMV check, central registry check

  • Must be able to lift up to ten pounds
  • Sitting most of the time with some bending and reaching
  • Standing, walking, and bending periodically
  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands and fingers (typing and/or writing)
  • Receiving and responding to oral communication
  • Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision
