The role of the Community College System of New Hampshire
Collaboration funded by State Apprenticeship Expansion Grant
In 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration awarded the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) a State Apprenticeship Expansion grant. This grant allowed CCSNH to expand apprenticeship opportunities in healthcare, IT, construction & infrastructure, biomedical technology, automotive technology, business & finance, hospitality and advanced manufacturing, increasing opportunities for people looking to learn new skills or enter a new career.
ApprenticeshipNH helped businesses launch apprenticeships programs starting late in 2017. Additional grant funds have been awarded to CCSNH, including the American Association of Community College’s (AACC) Expanding Community College Apprenticeship (ECCA) grant, allowing ApprenticeshipNH to expand into new sectors such as automotive technology and biomedical. New funding will give ApprenticeshipNH the opportunity to help businesses through summer of 2022.
Community College System of New Hampshire: Workforce training and the 65 x 25 commitment
To help make sure New Hampshire’s businesses have the employees they need now and, in the future, our state’s network of seven community colleges manage many job training programs. CCSNH is dedicated to serving as a workforce partner with businesses and communities. The goal: achieve 65 x 25, or for 65 percent of NH adults age 25 or older to earn some form of training beyond high school by the year 2025. Housed within CCSNH, ApprenticeshipNH is one of many community college initiatives focused on preparing New Hampshire for the economy of the future and meeting the state’s 65×25 goal.
